Are Pets Allowed In Hair Salons?

Are Pets Allowed in Hair Salons?

I never thought that I would live to see the day that dogs legitimately were used as a form of comfort or emotional support. Other than seeing-eye dogs, I was not aware of how much dogs comfort our souls.

The first time I saw this was in a Dentist's office where my Dentist had TWO good-sized golden retrievers in the office. How can this be sanitary was my first thought. They wandered around just hoping for someone to pet them. These dogs knew who needed comforting and delivered like nobody’s business. A Dentist's office is a scary place for some people so it makes sense. I say gynecologists and mammogram offices should have service dogs if you ask me!

In relation to Hair Salons, I think dogs bring a different essence to the salon vibe. I picture a fluffy sweet dog well-groomed and eager to be petted and caressed while you process or wait to be seen. No one wants a barking snippy dog to greet them at the door. Let alone get bit.

Here enters my old girl Missy to the story. She was a senior dog when I rescued her. Approximately 10 to 12 years old. She was not nice to men. She was snippy to some women as well. The four years she reigned as our Hair Salon mascot proved to be healing for me and her. We both learned patience and unconditional love from each other. All the clients grew to love her and gave her her space. She really came around and was very loving to all. Especially towards the end of her life. She is truly missed.

Will I get another salon pup? You’ll have to wait and see!
